Abstract
Cytomegalovirus continues to be an important pathogen in a variety of patient groups especially the neonate and the transplant recipient, and has implicated in a range of pathologies including inflammatory disease and in contributing to early death in ageing populations. This review will focus on advances in understanding the virus-host interaction and options for the new therapeutic control measures. © The Author 2011.
