Abstract

Thrombocytopenia is a rare but important adverse event following vaccination; its clinical presentation and management are similar to that of ITP. Clinicians should seek a history of recent vaccination in children presenting with apparent ITP. VATP is usually self-limiting, but there is a small risk of severe bleeding-related complications. The risk of recurrence is not known, but it is thought to be low. © 2009 Pulsus Group Inc. All rights reserved.
