Abstract

Neurofibromatosis type 1 is an autosomal dominant disease and is considered one of the most commonly inherited diseases in humans. Malignant melanoma has been reported in up to 5% of patients with neurofibromatosis type 1. We report a young Saudi boy with neurofibromatosis type 1 who developed fatal metastatic malignant melanoma arising from giant melanocytic nevi within speckled lentiginous nevus (SLN). © 2007 The International Society of Dermatology.
