Phase equilibria in the As2O5-MnO system and thermodynamic properties of manganese(II) arsenates

Abstract

The T-x phase diagram of the As2O5-MnO system was studied by physicochemical analysis. Incongruently melting metaarsenate Mn(AsO3)2 (mp 770°C), pyroarsenate Mn2As2O7 (mp 800°C), and orthoarsenate Mn3(AsO4)2 (mp 875°C) were found to form in the system. The crystal system and unit cell parameters of Mn(AsO3)2, Mn2As2O7, and Mn3(AsO4)2 were determined. The thermodynamic properties of manganese arsenates were studied with calorimetric and tensimetric techniques.
