Abstract
The work presented here describes the development of a method for the estimation of the energy demand for heating districts by collecting the existing cadastral data from each building. The automation of the data processing allows to obtain energy models of the residential building at the urban scale with a high precision. The proposed methodology includes an evaluation procedure for the incorporation of passive measures for the energy efficiency improvement. This procedure allows the quantification of the benefits obtained by building retrofit at an urban scale, as well as the calculation of the cost estimates for its implementation. The method is validated through the case study of a neighborhood located on the outskirts of Madrid: The ‘Poblado Dirigido de Canillas’. The paper diagnoses the current state of the neighborhood and evaluates the improvement potential resulting from the incorporation of thermal insulation in the opaque envelope of every building constructed prior to 1979.
