Abstract

A series of 1,7-bis(perfluorophenyl)substituted perylenebis(dicarboximides) were synthesized by Cu-mediated Ullmann coupling of bromopentafluorobenzene with 1,7-dibromoperylenebis(dicarboximides) (Scheme). The photophysical and electrochemical properties of these dyes were investigated with regard to their potential use as building blocks in organic photovoltaics (OPV) or organic field-effect transistors (OFET). © 2009 Verlag Helvetica Chimica Acta AG.
