Abstract

Some of the immature stages of 13 species of New Zealand Chironomidae are described. Thelytokous parthenogenesis is recorded in two subfamilies: Orthocladiinae (Lymnophyes vestitus(Skuse), Corynoneura donovani n.sp.) and Chironominae (Lundstroemia agameta n.sp.). Biological notes with a telltative key to the immature stages are included. Five new species, Corynoneura donovani, Polypedilum luteum, Polypedilum alternans, Tanytarsus albanyensis and Lundstroemia agameta are described. © 1971 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
