Abstract

Kulin people were dsitinguished from other tribes by the commonalities of their language. " The members recognised themselves as a regionnal cultural block confederacy - maintained by intermarriage , a common language, and mutual interests of various kinds" (1984:105). As is not uncommon in Aboriginal Australia, each clan identified a specific section or piece of territory which was the focus of that clan groups spiritual and economic existence (1984).
