Abstract

The Paleolithic of Syria is well attested in all geographical zones of the country. The sites are:surface ones and in stratygraphy, open area sites, rock shelters and caves. The archaeological, anthropological and paleontological data showed very intensive human occupation during lower, middle and upper Paleolithic phases. The sites under excavations are located in el-Kowm region (Hummal, Nadaouiyeh, Umm el-Tlel) and in Afrin Valley (Dederiyeh). The exceptional finds of these sites, always promising, are of major importance for understanding the Paleolithic occupation in the Near East and the World.
