Abstract

We have succeeded in the reversion of flower primordia of Date Palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) from the reproductive to the vegetative phase. This reversion occurred under the influence of several factors, particularly the stage of differentiation of the flower primordium at the time of placing on the culture medium, then its transfer to an inductive nutrient medium, and finally on a growth stimulating medium which is the most important factor for the realisation of this process. Thus, several entire plants most probably genetically identical to the mother plant can be raised from each flower bud. © 1985, Gustav Fischer Verlag, Stuttgart. All rights reserved.
