Abstract

Angiogenesis is necessary for tumor growth, progression and metastasis. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a key mediator of angiogenesis, and anti-VEGF therapies have demonstrated antitumor activity in various malignancies. Especially bevacizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody to VEGF, has been approved by the FDA for various malignancies. However, predictive biomarkers for anti-VEGF therapy have not yet been identified.
