Abstract

Existing thermal and kinetic data are sufficient to show that in the reaction H2+I2 = 2HI, free radical processes may contribute significantly to the overall rate at temperatures above 600 K. This provides a reasonable explanation for some of the anomalies observed in this system and indicates that further kinetic study of the system is desirable.
