This article provides an overview of the papers featured in this issue of The British Journal of Psychiatry. Two papers in the Journal describe trials of interventions targeting young people–-one focused on treating anxiety disorders in childhood and another on preventing eating disorders in adolescence. While cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) for childhood anxiety disorders is known to be effective, its availability is limited. Three papers in the Journal focus on important areas of clinical practice, highlighting the current state of evidence to guide clinicians. In a Japanese study, the notion that diet might be linked to depression is extended to an examination of a potential link between dietary patterns and suicide.
