Abstract
Imaging evaluation of postoperative patients is usually a challenge for general radiologists, especially in those complex surgeries where the normal anatomy tends to be altered. The adequate knowledge and familiarization with the surgical techniques of the most frequent gastrointestinal surgeries allows radiologists to recognize the normal (expected) postsurgical changes, achieving an adequate interpretation of the findings in multiple detector computed tomography (CT). The objective of this review is to remember the different surgical techniques in gastrointestinal surgeries and their anatomical-radiological correlation in CT.
