Abstract

Experience with the Scribner shunt over the past year is reviewed and the advantages of the method over repeated cannulation for patients needing more than one haemodialysis are emphasized. Complications likely to arise with the method are discussed. To minimize them modifications have been made in the mounting of the shunt and in the method of insertion which are described. © 1966, British Medical Journal Publishing Group. All rights reserved.
