Abstract
This paper analyses gender inequality and discrimination against women in the workplaces within the current context of increasing visibility of the demands of the feminist movements in recent years in Argentina. From a qualitative approach, this research analyses the interviewees’ perceptions about the following gender obstacles at work: Wage gap, horizontal and vertical segmentation, domestic work distribution and other forms of gender discrimination. Results show the persistence of all the obstacles studied. Moreover, when the interviewees are aware and also in favour of certain demands pro posed by feminist movements, they do not identify or fight for these claims in their workplaces, compared with their male co-workers and their male superiors, despite the situations of inequality they experience.
