Representing the city, the territory and the landscape in the Revista ega: Maps plans and drawings

Abstract

Urban and architectural drawings, together with cartography and landscape representation, can be considered upon a wide scope. Over the centuries, maps, plans, views and sketches have shaped a graphic corpus with its own identity, which is based upon distinguishing methods, scales and techniques. All of them become particularly useful to understand and analyse the territory, overcoming the architectural scale in order to explore extensive and even far territories and landscapes. Throughout the last twenty five years the Revista EGA has collected and displayed the results of many interesting researches in the field, making evident the various scientific areas where cartography plays a leading role, as well as the fruitful coexistence of freehand drawings with the latest technologies. Due to their proved importance within our scientific field, they deserve an independent review of the architectural drawings.
