Abstract

PT Adi Satria Abadi is one of the leather tanning companies in Indonesia, to win the competition in the industrial world the company must continue to maintain the quality of the products produced. One way to maintain the quality of the products produced is to control the quality of the products, so that the products produced are in accordance with company standards and in accordance with what consumers want. Seven tools is one method that can be used to identify the types of defects and the causes of defects. The company produces 77,343 pieces of CAB K PW leather and during the production process defects of 9,522 pieces of leather and there are three types of defects that occur in the tanning of CAB K PW leather, namely flea defects, mangkak defects and brittle defects. The flea defect is one of the uncontrollable defects because the proportion of flea defects is the highest compared to the mangkak defects and brittle defects so that flea defects become the type of defects that often occur in the tanning process. Factors that cause defects in tanning are that the raw materials used have many flea marks, scars on the surface of the skin and the raw materials are old stock. In addition, workers are less careful and negligent due to boredom at work, the level of accuracy of the machine decreases and the machine is dirty or the blade used is not sharp, and the work in the tanning process is not in accordance with company procedures.
