Abstract
Although governments around the world are in-creasingly recognizing the negative impact prenatal alcohol exposure can have on a child's neurodevelopment, the preva-lence of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) remains high-ly concerning. Pediatric neuropsychologists have an important role in the prevention of and intervention with children with FASD given the neurocognitive, psychiatric, social, behavior-al, and academic problems associated with the condition. This Special Issue reviews different countries' responses to FASD including their prevention and intervention efforts as well as the role that pediatric neuropsychologists have in that country. This introduction discusses the issues that led to the creation of this Special Issue, describes each article, and summarizes common themes raised by contributing countries.
