Abstract

This paper discusses the role of senior centers in human aging. Through literature review we explored history, experiences and possibilities in senior centers. We perceive “seniculture” as cultivation, but also social control of the elderly. Avoiding control, the network care can guide their actions by self-assessment of the elderly and their perception regarding the quality of life. We emphasize the importance of bonds, the caregiver-cared relationship as a space of transformation in the way of dealing with aging. We also propose care center strategies to provides opportunities for intergenerational relations and avoid age-segregation.
