Abstract

The learning process requires teaching materials, one type of teaching materials that can be used by teachers is illustrated handout with concept maps. The handout is written teaching materials taken from the relevant literature on basic competencies and subject matter being taught to students. But the teaching materials used by teachers in MTsN Talaok Bayang less attractive because of the picture there are not in accordance with the original form, only a few representative sample of the material and the material that is not represented ensesial material. This causes the students are less motivated to learn and are hard to distinguish the basic concepts contained in the material of the ecosystem. Based on that it is developing an instructional materials in the form of handouts concept map on the display accompanied ecosystems material. This study aims to determine the validity of the handout picture with concept maps. This study uses a model of the development of type 4-D of Thiagarajan. The model development consists of four stages, namely Define, Design, Development and Disseminate. This study was only conducted until the Development phase only. The data used are primary data obtained directly from the lecturers and teachers, which consists of 4 validator. The research result obtained is the average value of test validity by faculty and teachers of 86.02% with a valid criteria. This handout measured feasibility of various aspects: the feasibility of the content, language, presentation and structure. Based on this it can be concluded that the handouts were developed valid.
