Sexuelle und geschlechtliche Diversität aus salutogenetischer Perspektive: Erfahrungen vonjungen LSBTQ*-Menschen in Deutschland

Abstract

Despite the increasing visibility of non-heterosexual orientations and/or non-cisgender identity, they are still not a matter of course in our society. Social scientific research into the lives of LGBTQ*-people has shown that they are often subject to discrimination on account of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The majority of studies to date have tended to focus on stress and risks connected with discrimination. However, a recent study conducted by the German Youth Institute and entitled Coming out - what next...?! also investigated the strategies and resources which young LGBTQ*-people mobilize when facing challenges. More than 5.000 lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans* and queer adolescents provided information about their individual experiences in an online survey. Furthermore, 40 problem-centered interviews were conducted with LGBTQ*-adolescents across Germany, in which the young people were able to describe their experiences and the way the dealt with them in greater detail.
