Abstract

The article focuses on the efficient use of graphic novels and television shows as a method to teach the topic on power and social control in the high school English classroom in the U.S. Most of the English education experts views the capability of the graphic novels to enhance literacy. Graphic novels is more efficient than the printed text based on its visual effect. Moreover, the use of television and film clips can deepen the student-centered discussion on power and social control. Teachers can assessed student's learning by giving projects and essays.
