A novel facile method for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrido[1,2- α]pyrimidinium salts

Abstract

2-(Benzotriazol-1-ylalkylamino)pyridines 2a-d, readily available from 2- aminopyridine, aldehydes and benzotriazole, react with electron-rich alkenes to give good yields of 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrido[1,2-α]pyrimidinium salts 5a-d and 6a-g.
