Abstract
The purpose of this study was to summarize and systematize the data collected during the long-term studies of postmag-matic phenomena in 20 boreholes drilled in the Zarki-Kotowice area, particularly taking into account the new and relatively deep borehole ZW-1 (800.3 m). The description of the manifestations of ore mineralization was presented against the background of the zonation of thermal-metasomatic alterations observed in this area, based on microscopic investigations and detailed studies in the electron micro-probe. The results of these studies along with data from other boreholes enabled the first recognition of the mineral succession in the Zarki-Kotowice area, and comparison of the mineral association of this area with the others. In the Zarki-Kotowice area, the granitic intrusion has not been documented yet, but its presence at a large the depth is likely, due to the occurrence of typical zonation of metasomatic alteration and high-temperature ore mineralization of rocks. In terms of geochemistry, the documented rocks best correspond to the marginal zone of the hypothetical Mo-Cu(-W) porphyry deposit. Based on the model of the Myszków deposit, in order to find a high concentration of ore, the area located probably south east of the ZW-1 borehole should be explored, at a minimum distance of 750 m. Detailed geophysical investigations should be helpful for the detection and delineation of this prospective area.
