Abstract

Young people's mental health is related to their psychosocial development (e.g. language, cognition), for which social differences due to socio-economic conditions are described. In addition to the family socioeconomic position, regional deprivation is an independent and additive risk factor for child development (ORgirls = 1.35[1.13-1.62]; ORboys = 1.20[1.05-1.39]). They are of particular interest for public mental health and to promote child health in early childhood and across the lifespan.
