Abstract

This article presents a brief overview on existing ultra-wideband (UWB) bandpass filter (BPF) on the basis of structure and performance. It provides a brief history over UWB communication and defining the band type in terms of fractional bandwidth (FBW) and band ratio. After authorized usage of unlicensed UWB, it found various application in short range communication. In order to design UWB BPF, the methodologies such as cascading of lowpass and highpass filter, multi-mode resonators (MMR), defected ground structure (DGS), and structure based on MMR with modified stubs are discussed. A comparison study based on FBW, stopband suppression and shape factor is also discussed.
