Abstract

The relation to the other is the object of past reflections in philosophy, but it is in the modern philosophy framework the relation between the self and the other is analyzed. Social and cultural relativities are highlighted by the legacies of anthropology and sociology, and question the articulation between unity and diversity. The history of disabilities shows former people devaluing representations but, in contemporary approaches, the notion of vulnerability in the common humanity takes on a new importance. In the same way, the otherness of childhood with respect to the adult is increasingly blurred. Also, inclusive education put in the forefront the education of children "with disabilities" in common places of residence and values peer relationships. The contemporary issues of immigration and disability issues are oriented towards issues of ethics and democracy in the contemporary world.
