Abstract

The pathophysiology of disorders of haemostasis is complex and requires a careful diagnostic approach. Rodenticide poisoning carries the most favourable prognosis when detected early and is the most commonly encountered disorder, whereas disseminated intravascular coagulation is a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge for the practitioner. The congenital bleeding disorders, which are rare, sometimes cause problems for surgeons.
