Abstract

Pendidikan Agama Islam was one of the compulsory courses in State University of Padang (UNP), which during its learning process, needed a certain effort in order to increase its learning effectiveness that later resulted better learning outcomes. One of effort was implementing Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) strategy. The design of the research was quasi experiment. It was conducted at UNP. In order to choose the sample, cluster sampling was used. The data was gained through pre-test, motivation test, and post-test. The data was analyzed by using Tucky test. Based on the data analysis, by considering students’ initial capability in their pre-test, it was concluded that 1) CTL resulted higher learning outcomes compared to the conventional learning system. 2) Students with high motivation and were manipulated with CTL gained higher learning outcomes than students with high motivation and were manipulated with conventional learning system. 3) Students with high motivation and were manipulated with conventional learning system achieved higher learning outcomes than students with low motivation and were manipulated with CTL. 4) There was an interaction between learning outcomes and high learning motivation.
