Editorial: Mapping the influence of schools and parents and translating innovation into routine clinical practice

Abstract

The articles featured in this issue of CAMH reflect the crucial role of some of the wider systems that influence the lives and well-being of children and young people. The first two papers focus on the very important role of schools in relation to child and adolescent mental health. These report on the views of school staff from an international perspective. The next two papers, reporting on studies conducted in China and Palestine, highlight the impact of parental factors, including psychopathology and detention, on children's mental health. The final two papers focus on the potential to change and innovate core aspects of clinical practice in terms of enhancing the sharing of clinical information with families and using objective assessment measures within routine paediatric and child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).
