Abstract
The success of laboratory rearing of Cyrtorhinus lividipennis at 26-32 degrees C and 40-92% RH in chimney, plastic sleeve and wooden cages was assessed. The population decreased to 79% of the original in the 1st generation in the chimney cage. In wooden cages, the population increased up to peaks of 200% in 7 months. The plastic sleeve cage was the easiest to handle, the most economical and the most successful, with population increases ranging from 300 to 500% after 30 days. C. lividipennis females oviposited only in mature stems of 4- to 6-week-old rice plants
