Abstract

This research aims to deeply analyze the implementation of rewards and punishments, and the underlying policies, within the context of human resource development at The Tamarind Resort Nusa Lembongan. Employing a qualitative approach, data was collected through direct observation and in-depth interviews with the Resort Manager, HRD, and Supervisors. The findings indicate that the implementation of rewards and punishments at this hotel is highly structured and development-oriented. Rewards are diverse, encompassing direct recognition from top management, performance bonuses, appreciation linked to positive online guest reviews (impacting promotions and salary increments), and career development opportunities such as coaching and shadowing. Conversely, punishments are applied in an educational and supportive manner, prioritizing re-training and guidance before formal sanctions, with HR and Supervisors actively involved in supporting behavioral improvement. The hotel's policies are comprehensively designed to be clear, integrated, and progressive, incorporating non-financial incentives, linking performance to rewards, and ensuring a gradual, rehabilitation-focused disciplinary process. The consistent execution of both systems reflects an effective HR management policy that strengthens discipline, enhances motivation, and fosters optimal employee growth and performance.
