Abstract
Two new diarylheptanoids, meso-3,5-diacetoxy-l,7-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)heptane (3a) and 3,5-diace-toxy-l-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-7-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)heptane (4a) were isolated from the rhizomes of ginger (Zingiber officinale roscoe), together with dehydroxytetrahydrocurcumin (gingerenone A, 1) and hexahy-drocurcumin (2). Their structures were elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence. © 1991, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan. All rights reserved.
