Abstract

Tailored nanoliter single and double emulsions that can be transported, collected/chained, and purposefully fused using magnetophoretic techniques are demonstrated. We show that such emulsions can be used for mixing, release and reaction of minor amounts of encapsulated cargo with spatial and temporal control, offering promise in applications requiring on-demand cargo release and in droplet-based high-throughput analytics. © 2012 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
