Abstract

Carmichaelia crassicaulis subsp. racemosa (Kirk) Heenan is a new combination for plants originally described as Corallospartium crassicaule var. racemosum Kirk and later treated as Corallospartium racemosum (Kirk) Cockayne & Allan. This subspecies is distinguished from Carmichaelia crassicaulis subsp. crassicaulis by its slender cladodes and its more lax and spreading growth habit. It is known from disjunct populations in West Otago and mid Canterbury. Based on its restricted distribution and small population sizes C. crassicaulis subsp. racemosa has a conservation assessment of Chronically Threatened/Serious Decline using the New Zealand Threat Classification System. © 2007 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
