A política da Igreja Universal e seus reflexos nos campos religioso e político brasileiros

Abstract

Este texto versa sobre a inser��o daIgreja Universal do Reino de Deus(IURD) na pol�tica nacional e seusefeitos nos campos religioso e pol�tico.Em raz�o da efic�cia de seucarisma institucional, a Universalprocedeu, dentro do pr�prio gruporeligioso, a uma ressemantiza��o doato de votar em particular e da percep��oda pol�tica em geral,inscrevendo-os em sua l�gica religiosa.Isso � uma importante chaveexplicativa para o elevado grau defidelidade de votos e o �xito pol�ticocada vez maior constatado nas �ltimaselei��es. Ademais, a pr�ticapol�tica da Universal est� produzindoum efeito mim�tico em outrasigrejas evang�licas, que tendem aimitar seu modelo de fazer pol�tica.Sua inser��o pol�tica, sobretudo porinterm�dio do Partido Liberal, n�opassa despercebida pelos partidos,constituindo-se, assim, em um atorrelevante na atual conjuntura pol�ticabrasileira.The paper analyses the insertion ofthe Universal Church of theKingdom of God (UCKG) in thenational politics scenario and itseffects in the religious and politicalfields. Due to the efficacy of its institutionalcharisma, the UniversalChurch of the Kingdom of God(UCKG) has given, within its ownreligious group, a new meaning tothe specific act of voting and to thegeneral perception of politics ingeneral, putting both of them in itsown religious logic. This is animportant explanatory key for thehigh level of loyalty in voting andthe growing political success verifiedin every new election.Furthermore, the political practice ofthe UCKG is producing a mimeticeffect on other evangelic churches,which tend to imitate its way ofdoing politics. Its political insertion,mainly through the Liberal Party,has not remained unnoticed by thepolitical parties, making the fact arelevant actor in the currentBrazilian political conjuncture.
