Abstract

The parametric excitation of the standing waves in a viscous fluid was analyzed using the numerical simulation of two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations. The time evolution, flow structures and form of surface elevation were analyzed. The dependence of the saturated amplitude on the forcing strength showed a normal division. The results showed that the standing waves were stable to two-dimensional disturbances by numerical simulations.
