Abstract

The solidarity economy is an integral part of the dynamics of the local economy and development. The objective of this research is to analyze the characteristics of social entrepreneurship carried out by solidarity organizations in the municipality of Abrego (Colombia). It is a descriptive level non-experimental quantitative study in which 36 solidarity economy organizations from the municipality of Abrego participated. A questionnaire structured in 20 questions and validated through expert judgment was used as the information gathering technique. The results show that solidarity economy organizations are varied in scope, activity, purposes and practices, with a significant impact on the local socio-economic sphere. It is concluded that solidarity economy organizations are part of a complex, articulated and interdependent system that facilitates local development.
