Abstract

Recent developments in the new field of isolable quintuple bonded complexes of group 6 transition elements, Cr and Mo, are covered in this review. The geometrical preference of the metal-metal quintuple bonded complexes, quintuple bond lengths, bonding features, and preliminary reactivity of quintuple bonds are presented. © 2009 The Chemical Society of Japan.
