Abstract
The present urban landscape, produced by building control regulations of such as setback regulation, is confused. In order to solve this problem, Streetscape Promoting District Planning(SPDP) seems to be effective. In this research, the actual running condition of SPDP is clarified by analyzing the background of system adoptions, the purposes, and the contents of the plan for the introductory example of SPDP. Moreover by analyzing the site situation and the renewed buildings of the applied area, the effectiveness to urban landscape formation is analyzed and the application effect is clarified. Finally, this research aims at clarifying the effect and problems of SPDP. © 2003, The City Planning Institute of Japan. All rights reserved.
