Studies on acetylation of indoles

Abstract

Acetylation of indole was carried out by two different methods, and three different products were obtained, viz 1-acetyl indole, 3-acetyl indole and 1,3-diacetyl indole. The structures of these products were confirmed by physical and spectral analysis.
