Abstract

A new variety of Absidia idahoensis Hesseltine et al. was isolated from a soil sample collected in China and named A. idahoensis var. thermophila G.-q. Chen & Zheng var. nov. A comparison of the morphology between the two taxa is discussed. The new variety can readily be distinguished from A. idahoensis var. idahoensis by possessing a maximum growth temperature of 48°C, while the latter fails to grow at 37°C.
