Abstract
In this issue of Blood, Libourel et al report the incidence and risk factors for thrombosis in newly diagnosed adults with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Their data suggested a thrombosis prevalence of 8.7% in younger and 10.4% in older adults with AML; patients at greater risk exhibit disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) at diagnosis and high D-dimer levels in particular.
