Abstract

When the concept of life care planning was introduced inthe 1980s, only certain technology-based tools were availableto the general public and life care planning practitioners.During the last 30 years as life care planning evolved, sotoo did the role of technology-based products. During thistime, workplaces adopted the personal computer, as wellas internet, email, and cellular telephones. This adoptionof advanced technology improved the life care planner’sefficiency and delivery of services in a competent and ethicalmanner. During the COVID-19 pandemic, enhanced technologyincluding the use of video conferencing, has assistedwith the restrictions of social distancing and the safety ofevaluees. This article reports findings from a 2020 survey of100 life care planners who responded to five questions aboutthe role of technology in their life care planning practice.
