Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of financial literacy, financial behavior and income on student investment decisions in Batam City. The population in this study were all active students majoring in accounting at Universitas Internasional Batam (UIB), Universitas Batam (UNIBA), Universitas Riau Kepulauan (UNRIKA) and Universitas Universal (UVERS). The sample in this study used a purposive sampling technique with an error rate of 5%. This research was conducted using quantitative techniques and the sample used was 295 respondents with the data collection method by distributing questionnaires online. The analysis techniques use descriptive statistical tests, data quality tests, classic assumption tests, influence tests and hypothesis testing. Based on the results of multiple linear regression analysis tests for the variable financial literacy has an effect of 0.290 or 20.9% on investment decisions, financial behavior has an effect of 0.229 or 22.9% on investment decisions, income has an effect of 0.275 or 27.5%. Apart from being based on the results of the test for the coefficient of determination, the variables of financial literacy, financial behavior and income influence student investment decisions in Batam City by 55.3%. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, it can be concluded that the variables of financial literacy, financial behavior and income have a partial and simultaneous effect on student investment decisions in Batam City.
