Abstract

The occurrence of the concept of the evil eye in myth and schizophrenia has been presented in this study. The delusion of the evil eye in the cases studied was found to be psychodynamically related to aggression and sexuality with incestuous implications and castration as punishment. Similar dynamic factors were found to be operating in the myth of the evil eye. © 1954 The Psychiatric Quarterly.
