Abstract

“The world is not on track to achieve gender equality by 2030”, says UN Women’s “Progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals: Gender Snapshot 2022” paper. It contains data on gender equality for all 17 goals, pointing to “a long way to go to achieve gender equality”. It shows the relationship between the goals and highlights the fundamental power that gender equality plays in advancing progress across areas of the Sustainable Development Goals roadmap, as well as the central role of women and girls in leadership. COVID-19 and the backlash against women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights further undermine prospects for gender equality. Issues of the status of the female population on the planet are in the center of attention of the world community, which is concerned about finding ways to mitigate the crisis circumstances.
