Abstract

Mycotic aneurysm of the abdominal aorta is an uncommon but serious complication of bacterial endocarditis. The case of a child who died after rupture of such an aneurysm is reported, with details of the necropsy. Five further cases, all occurring in childhood, have been collected from the literature. The condition is briefly reviewed.
