Abstract

Article History Abstract: Cardiac arrest is a problem that often occurs both in the hospital and outside the hospital. The occurrence of cardiac arrest causes a decrease in systemic perfusion in the early minutes and damage to the brain, heart and even death. Rapid treatment is required to return the circulation through the administration of Cardiac Lung Resuscitation (CPR). One of the methods of CPR that can be used is hands-only CPR with a rhythm controller using a metronome. The research objective was to see practichal learning methods the effect of the metronome on the quality of CPR compression by nursing students. This research is a quantitative study using the method of pre-experimental pre-test post-test without control group design. The sample was using probability sampling technique taken by simple random sampling on 37 nursing students of the Nursing Science Study Program at the Muhammadiyah Palembang Institute of Sciences. The intervention group was given method self-directed video CPR hands-only followed by metronome rhythm with a speed of 110 times per minute. The results of the study had an effect on the improvement of compression quality (CPR compression frequency), the mean value before 91.05 times per minute and after 104.89 times per minute with a p value of 0.001.
